Online and mail registration deadline
Wednesday, October 14, 2026Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m., and mailed forms must be postmarked by this date. After that, register in person at your municipal clerk's office until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, or at your polling place on Election Day. Bring proof of residence.
Tuesday, October 20 to Sunday, November 1, 2026Vote an absentee ballot in person at your municipal clerk's office or another designated site. Each city, village, and town sets its own days and hours within this window, and some start later or end sooner.
Thursday, October 29, 2026, 5 p.m.Request online at MyVote Wisconsin, or by mail, email, or fax. Your municipal clerk must receive the request by 5 p.m., and most voters must include a copy of their photo ID. Request early so there is time to get and return your ballot.
Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.If you are in line when polls close, you can still vote. You can also register at your polling place on Election Day with proof of residence.
Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 8 p.m.Your municipal clerk must receive your ballot by 8 p.m. on Election Day; postmarks do not count. The Elections Commission recommends mailing it at least 10 days before Election Day. On Election Day, take it to your polling place or central count location instead.

Every paid political ad is labeled "Paid political advertisement" and carries the buyer's "Paid for by" line. Campaigns and committees from any side can buy one at the same published rates, and that includes people I've criticized.
I can turn down an ad that's false or hateful, or one made to look like an official election notice. Each political ad I accept goes in the public ledger below with the buyer, the committee or FEC ID, the amount and the run dates.
